Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban officially announced as 'American Idol' judges

It’s finally official folks- Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., and Jennifer Lopez are finally confirmed as this season’s judges.

According to People ,Lopez gushed about the opportunity to return to the judging panel saying, “It was so hard for me to leave the first time.” Lopez previously judged the show for seasons 10 and 11. Lopez left the show to pursue her musical career and to go on tour.

Connick Jr. tells The Hollywood Reporter, “I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show. And I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."

Additionally, season 12 judge Keith Urban is also sticking around and Fox has also announced the return of Randy Jackson, in a new role. Jackson will take a behind the scenes look this time around as he will hold the role of an in-house mentor.

The new season of Idol is slated to air in January.
