Kings of Leon will headline the NHL Face-Off

Grammy award-winning Kings of Leon will be performing on Oct. 1 in Montreal to get hockey fans hype for the National Hockey League season at the 2013 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off.

The band will perform a 40-minute set, celebrating the release of their new album, Mechanical Bull. The album will come out next Tuesday on Sept. 24. The single from the album, "Supersoaker" was released in early July.

"The Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off is the perfect way to pick up where we left off with last season's strong finish," Chief Marketing Officer Brian Jennings said in a statement, according to NHL. "NHL Face-Off is all about our fans -- thanking them and giving them another forum to not only rally around the excitement of a new season, but to celebrate our game in a festival environment. Holding NHL Face-Off in Montreal promises to create an incredible atmosphere and a memorable event for our fans and partners."

NHL Face-Off is a festival of music and entertainment that has free activities. The celebration will start at 3 p.m. EST at Place des Festivals. At 7 p.m. there will be a live telecast of the opening game between the Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kings of Leon is an American band from Nashville, TN. They are mostly known for their song, "Use Somebody" and was awarded with three Grammy Awards in Jan. 2010.
