Larry Bird wants to go to the Finals

Larry Bird says the Pacers are "all in" this season, and will not settle for anything less than a Finals run.

Larry Bird, the president of basketball operations with the Pacers, told the Indianapolis star that this will be the year that the Pacers finally beat the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

"Anything less than (a Finals appearance or a conference finals appearance) would be a disappointment," he told the Indy Star. "I think anything over 50 wins is a good season, but I believe we're built more for the playoffs than we are for the regular season. Because we're deep and we'll have time to prepare. It's hard to beat 10 or 11 guys."

Indy Star reports that the Pacers have made some big offseason moves to add to their depth this season. They have added power forward Luis Scola, C.J. Watson, and Chris Copeland as a shooter off the bench.

The big question mark on this team is the health of Danny Granger in the final year of his contract. According to Indy Cornrows, Bird plans on keeping Granger around for this season as long as he stays healthy and plays up to par. So far the reports seem good concerning Granger's health. It seems like he's ready to play.

Indiana really could make something happen this year. We'll just have to wait for the 2013-2014 season to find out if they will.
