NBA 2015 All-Star Weekend is coming to the Big Apple

The NBA announced on Wednesday that the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets will be co-hosts of the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend.

According to ESPN on Sunday night, Feb. 15, 2015 Madison Square Garden will be host to the All-Star game, and all of the events on Saturday including the three-point shootout, skills challenge, and the dunk contest will be held at the Barclay Center. Other Saturday night events to be held in Brooklyn are the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge and of course the Celebrity All-Star game.

This is the fifth time the All-Star game will be held in New York, being held at MSG in 1954, 1955, 1968, and 1998. NBA.com reports that community, grassroots, and fan events will be held throughout the five boroughs of Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island.

This is only the second time since 2004 that the game will be held in an Eastern Conference city. The last time was in 2012 when the Orlando Magic played host.

Knicks owner James Dolan said in a press conference on Wednesday that the Knicks and the Nets need to "give our rivalry a rest for a little bit" in order to host the events.
