'Nurse Jackie's' Merritt Wever tries to explain bizarre Emmys acceptance speech (Video)

Merritt Weaver won her first Emmy Award forBest Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in Nurse Jackie. But she was one of the talking points of the night, due to her speech, which just consisted of her thanking the crowd then saying, “I gotta go, bye.”

"Thanks so much, Thank you so much,” she said while accepting her award, then said the confusing line a few seconds later and simply darted off the stage.

She seems shocked, to say the least, telling reporters about her speech backstage, “I know I wanted to thank a lot of people. I don't know…I'm scared because it was unexpected, so I don't know how I feel yet. I mean, I have therapy next week,” E! Online reports.

She also said "I wanted to thank everyone at Showtime, and most of all Edie Falco. And people at Showtime,” USA Today reports.

There were some funny reactions on Twitter, with some saying she should be nominated for the “best acceptance speech.”

Check out some of the other winners here. Merritt beat out The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik, Glee's Jane Lynch, 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, Veep's Anna Chlumsky and Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara.
