TV Ratings: Robin Williams’ ‘The Crazy Ones’ easily beats ‘The Michael J. Fox Show’

It was a battle of movie star titans on television Thursday night and the one that had the reigning top-rated sitcom as a lead-in won. CBS’ The Crazy Ones with Robin Williams easily beat NBC’s The Michael J. Fox Show, while The Big Bang Theory easily dominated the night.

CBS swept the night with 14.21 million viewers and a 3.7 18-49 rating. The Big Bang Theory’s first episode drew 18.91 million viewers and a huge 5.6 18-49 rating. Both numbers went up for the second episode, which drew 19.5 million viewers and a 5.8 18-49 rating, notes HitFix. The Crazy Ones’ premiere drew 15.61 million viewers and a 4.0 18-49 rating, while Two and a Half Men kicked off its season with 11.54 million and a 2.9 rating. Elementary ended the night with 10.14 million viewers and a 2.1 18-49 rating.

ABC came in second place with 7.89 million viewers and a 2.7 18-49 rating. The network started the night with a repeat of MArvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which grabbed a 1.4 18-49 rating, beating NBC’s Parks & Recreation premiere. According to TheWrap, Grey’s Anatomy’s two-hour premiere drew 9.3 million viewers and a 3.4 18-49 rating. It was the lowest-rated premiere in the show’s history.

Fox averaged 5.8 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating. X Factor kicked things off with 6.4 million viewers and a 2.0 18-49 rating. Glee also earned a 2.0, but it drew only 5.2 million viewers. It was down 35 percent from last season’s premiere in the key demo.

Things didn’t look too good for NBC. The peacock network was down in fourth with 5.3 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating. Parks & Rec started its season with just 3.3 million viewers and a 1.3 18-49 rating. Michael J. Fox had 7.3 million viewers, but just a 2.1 18-49 rating over its hour premiere. Parenthood capped the night off with 5.2 million viewers and a 1.6 18-49 rating.

Next week, NBC’s Sean Saves The World will try to draw viewers from Two and a Half Men.
