Woman finds bone in her Life cereal

A 25-year-old Oregon woman was eating a bowl of Life cereal when she noticed a bone among the sweetened, whole grain squares.

Shea Boman-Smead told kval.com, “As I was taking a drink, I noticed something long in there," she said, "and it was not shaped like the cereal.”
When Boman-Smead realized it was a bone, she immediately contacted Quaker. The representative was apologetic and told her to send them the empty box and the bone for investigation.

The pregnant woman was worried about the health implications, though. She said, “Maybe the cereal is contaminated. Maybe I could’ve gotten sick.”

According to Yahoo news, however some contaminations are okayed by the FDA. For example, every 225 grams of noodles are allowed to have four and a half rodent hairs in them, and a pound of cocoa beans can be sold with up to 10mg of animals feces.

Boman-Smead was not completely satisfied with Quaker’s response after finding the bone, which she believes is the femur of a mouse, in her cereal. She said, “Other people could find something like that in their cereal. It’s just gross.”
