Conrad Murray, doctor convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, released from prison after two years

Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s former doctor, has been released from prison after serving two years for involuntary manslaughter in the death of the “Thriller” singer.

Steve Whitmore, a spokesman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, confirmed Murray, 60, was “released safely and securely.”

Murray exited the building discreetly through a back exit to throw off journalists and waiting paparazzi just after midnight on Monday.

“There was some thought there may be a safety issue,” Whitmore told the Daily News.

His lawyer, Valerie Wass, told reporters outside of the jail “He wants to take some time and see his family. Believe me, after you’ve been locked up in this place for two years, it’s a shock emotionally and physically.”

Murray has a 4-year-old son with his girlfriend Nicole Alvarez, 31.

Murray was sentenced to four years in jail but he was released in half the time due to overcrowding within the Los Angeles jail system.

He had a tough time in jail, with his lawyer writing a letter to Los Angeles County jail officials claiming he was dying in the cramped cell.

He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter of Jackson, for giving him a lethal dose of propofol before his 2009 death, back in 2011.
