'Diana' movie poster placed near Paris crash site removed

A movie poster for Naomi Watts' Diana posted near the fatal crash site of the princess has been removed.

The movie poster was placed in the same area in Paris around the tunnel where Princess Diana was killed, People reports. As if the movie wasn't getting enough negative publicity as it is.

People were rather inflamed about the location. "I really don't have any words to describe how I feel about this cynical and shameless attempt to publicize a film that should never have been made," Rosa Monckton, a former close friend of the princess, said.

"To have made a film so speculative and as this is disgusting enough, but to then advertise it on the spot at which she died is despicable. ... It is a terrible intrusion into her memory, not to mention the lives of her sons, whose feelings are often forgotten in these stories."

The poster was mere feet from the unofficial Princess Diana memorial, the Flame of Liberty.

According to Newsday, the poster was eventually moved on Monday.

The poster's spot was only "a coincidence," a spokesperson for Le Pacte, the film's French distributor, said.

The placement makes it even easier for British critics to hate the movie even more. When it premiered in London, the movie was panned and thrashed by British critics.
