Falcons receiver Julio Jones out for season

Julio Jones will have to miss the remainder of the season with a right foot injury.

Jones had a CT scan which showed that he had a fracture in the same spot in his foot where he had a fracture after the 2011 scouting combine. Jones will have surgery on the foot on Monday.

"Unfortunately, Julio's appointment with the doctor today confirmed our initial findings," said Falcons head coach Mike Smith. "He is scheduled to have a season-ending procedure on Monday."

Jones injured his foot in the Falcons' 30-28 loss to the New York Jets, then went to get a second opinion in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, ESPN reports.

Jones leads the 1-4 Falcons with 41 for 580 yards and two touchdowns.

The Falcons are taking a big blow to their receiving corps, as Yahoo Sports reports that Roddy White injured his hamstring in the same game and missed practice Wednesday. Smith said that White will miss Thursday's practice as well as he is also nursing an ankle sprain.

As of right now the top three Falcons receivers will be Harry Douglas, Kevin Cone, and Drew Davis.

"I've been playing football for a long time," Douglas said. "I don't need to go out there and try to be Superman. I've just got to play the game of football."

Douglas is in his fifth year and currently has 16 catches for 219 yards.

Cone made his first career catch on Monday night and had this to say about this situation:

"I'm definitely no Julio Jones."
