House stenographer rants 'praise be to God' on floor, sent for mental exam

Dianne Reidy, House stenographer, began ranting as the House was set to vote on ending the government shutdown.

According to Washington Times, Reidy went up to the podium and began shouting about God and Freemasons.

"Praise be to God," Reidy exclaimed. "He will not be mocked. He will not be mocked. Don't touch me. He will not be mocked." Her interruption shocked the House as she is well-known and liked there during her tenure as a stenographer.

Fox News notes that Reidy also claimed that "Freemasons" wrote the constitution and so American was not a nation under God. As she was pulled from the room she was heard saying, "You cannot serve two masters."

Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen said Reidy "came up to the podium area beneath where I was standing and asked me if the microphones were on. I said that I didn't know. I assumed that perhaps I was chatting too much to the helpful parliamentarians around me."

Ros-Lehtinen added, "Then she suddenly faced the front and said words like 'Thus spoke the Lord.' And, 'This is not the Lord's work."

Washington Times notes that after her outburst Reidy was sent off for a mental evaluation after members of the House expressed worry.
