Liza Minnelli performs at benefit concert despite broken wrist

Liza Minnelli suffers for her fans and good causes. The 67-year-old broke her wrist in three places, but still performed Monday night in a concert for charity.

According to the Associated Press, the Broadway star performed alongside her sister Lorna Luft – the first time the siblings performed a duet in 20 years. The concert raised funds for the Women’s Health Initiative and the Dr. Philomena McAndrew Fund of Tower Cancer Research Foundation.

E! reports that Minnelli was told by her doctors that performing wasn’t a good idea. But the star wouldn’t listen, saying, "Nothing was going to stop me from coming here tonight. Lorna asked me to be here and I wouldn't let her down."

Minnelli was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, so the benefit event held at the Birdland jazz club was something that was very important to the star.

"This event means the world to me," Luft said tonight. "I'm so grateful to be feeling so well and performing again."

Following the performance, Minnelli required further treatment on her wrist and returned to the hospital.
