Louisville forward Chane Behanan suspended

Louisville forward Chane Behanan was suspended indefinitely by the university on Thursday for violating school policy. What the violation is hasn’t been revealed yet.
According to the Associated Press, Behanan, who was a key player in Louisville’s NCAA championship run last season, could possibly return in December. He is still living on campus, but not in the team’s dorm. Behanan isn’t participating in any team activities either.
"He had a number of suspensions last year, so this was not one thing," Louisville coach Rick Pinto told ESPN. "It was many different things, and the AD and I just sat down and said he's got to get his head right and his life right before he plays another basketball game."
Being suspended is nothing new to Behanan. Last year he was suspended for Louisville’s preseason games and didn’t play in the season-opener. Pinto also banned Behanan from talking to the media for the entire nonconference schedule. Immaturity was the reason for Behanan’s suspension in 2012.
In his sophomore season Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He was also named to the Final Four all-tournament team, the AP notes. With Behanan suspended, guard Russ Smith, who was the leading scorer last year, and forward Wayne Blackshear are Louisville’s only returning starters. Sophomore Montrezl Harrell will most likely fill in for Behanan while he servers his suspension.
Louisville was ranked third in the USA Today preseason coaches’ poll.
