Packers take down the Vikings

Aaron Rodgers takes the Packers past the Vikings as the Packers maintain their lead in the NFC North.

Rodgers completed 24 of his 29 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns, both in the first half and both to Jordy Nelson. Eddie Lacy and James Starks did the rest with a rushing touchdown a piece in Green Bay's 44-31 win.

"I think this is really shaping up to be one of Aaron's best years," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "Aaron's had a lot of challenges Monday through Saturday that don't show up on the stat sheet, just trying to get on the same page with younger players and trusting the game plan."

According to ESPN the Packers were missing three starting receivers in Randall Cobb, James Jones, and Jermichael Finley. Rodgers faired well without them as he also had a running game to support him.

"We expect greatness out of our guys," Rodgers said

Christian Ponder had a tough outing in his first game back off the bench. USA Today reports that Ponder only had one completion for nine yards to former Packer Greg Jennings in his first game against his old team. Ponder was also held under 100 yards until it was too late to make a comeback.
