Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski has been cleared to play

For New England Patriots fans the wait is finally over because tight end Rob Gronkowski has been cleared to make his season debut Sunday against the New York Jets.

According to ESPN, agent Drew Rosenhaus sent text messages to several media outlets Friday morning confirming the news.

"Rob Gronkowski has now been cleared by all his doctors to play Sunday in the Jets game," Rosenhaus’ text read.

When asked about Gronkowski’s status, head coach Bill Belichick was vague, only saying that the team would release its injury report at the end of the day, Boston.com reports.

Gronk’s long awaited return was treated with caution. Last week, Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Jesse Jupiter did not clear him to play against the New Orleans Saints, which raised questions about the progress of his injuries.

This week it appears to be a go, as doctors have medically cleared the 24-year-old to take the field.

In addition to the fans being excited for Gronk to step onto the field, quarterback Tom Brady will also share in the glee. Getting the explosive tight end back means that he is getting his favorite target back. Gronkowski will be a welcome sight for all, except maybe the New York Jets.
