Rozanda 'Chilli' Thomas says Usher was her first love, denies 'Confessions' was about her

Although many thought that Usher’s 2004 album Confessions was about his philandering ways when it came to his 2-year relationship with TLC’s Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, she is coming to his defense almost 10 years later.

Chilli says the album was not about their relationship, but it was about producer Jermaine Dupri’s relationship.
"We were together when he recorded that album," she told Us Weekly. "All of those songs on Confessions, that was about Jermaine Dupri's situation. Usher was just singing it. But people kind of bought into it, it was just the timing of our breakup when the album came out."

She went on to say she still loves Usher and he was her first love, so there’s no bad blood between the two.
“So people assumed that album was about us, but it was not," she said. "And Usher and I weren't oil and water. We broke up because I guess it was that time or whatever. He was that real love for me."

Usher and Chilli shocked fans when they split in 2003, and they were plagued with cheating rumors because of the album.

“Sometimes you're just supposed to be with people for a reason and it's not always a lifetime. Even if you want it to be, it just doesn't work out that way,” she added.

"But I'll always love him, forever, because he was my first adult love, a real love," she added. "But we're cool, we're really cool. There's no hard feelings, nothing like that. It's all good."

The film CrazySexyCool about TLC will debut tonight on VH1. It stars Keke Palmer as Chilli, Drew Sidora T-Boz and Lil Mama as Left Eye.
