Second ‘American Hustle’ trailer shows different side of Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper film (Video)

A new trailer for the highly anticipated American Hustle has been released, showing the film in a different light than the first.

The first trailer highlighted the American excess of the 1970s, centering on the “Only in America” aspect of the story. The new trailer isn’t as loud, as it looks at how Amy Adams’ character winds up falling for - and working with - Christian Bale, who is not only sporting ‘70s hair in this film, but also added weight. We also see that Jennifer Lawrence isn’t too happy with Bale, calling him a “son of a b*tch” right in front of their child.

We also see how Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner fit into the plot, which is based on the 1970s FBI ABSCAM sting. Renner was virtually missing in the first trailer, but he takes center stage here.

American Hustle is considered a contender in the race for the Oscar for Best Picture. It was directed by David O. Russell, whose last two films - Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter - were also nominated for the award. He directed Lawrence to an Oscar in Silver Linings and Bale to a win for The Fighter.

American Hustle is being released by Sony and hits theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
