Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ to hit theaters in March 2014

The next film from auteur Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel, has been given a spring 2014 release date.

Fox Searchlight, which will distribute the film, announced on Twitter today that The Grad Budapest Hotel will hit theaters on March 7, 2014. The studio snagged distribution rights for the film earlier this year and agreed to co-finance with Indian Paintbrush.

Anderson co-wrote the story with Hugo Guinness, notes The Hollywood Reporter. The all-star cast includes several faces familiar to Anderson fans, including Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton. Joining the Anderson team are Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Saoirse Ronan and Tom Wilkinson.

The film is set in Europe between the two World Wars at a hotel. Gustave H, a legendary concierge at the hotel, and Zero Moustafa, a lobby boy, become friends. A missing Renaissance painting and a family fortune also come into play.

The Grand Budapest Hotel follows Anderson’s 2012 film, Moonrise Kingdom, which was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. If his new film is just as good, hopefully it will stay fresh in the minds of Oscar voters during next year’s awards season.
