'AHS: Coven' Recap: Burn, Witch. Burn!

What an action packed episode! We start out on "Hallows Eve" of 1833 where Madame LaLaurie (Kathy Bates) is spooking out her daughter's future prospects by having him dip his hands in eyeballs and intestines. You know, typical Madame LaLaurie business. Little did she know that 180 years later her daughters would show up as zombies at her door set out to attack her.

By far the most action packed episode in the season so far, it also had some groundbreaking character moments. Here are the top 5 most memorable things:

5. Cordelia is blind! Last episode, a mysterious hooded figure attacked poor Delia (Sarah Paulson) in the bathroom by throwing sulfuric acid in her face, which burned through her optic nerves. But by the looks of it, this is only the beginning of her power. Not only does she say in the trailer for next week's episode (posted below): "I had to go blind to see things I couldn't see before," but when her husband shows up at the hospital and touches her hand, she got a glimpse into the murderous, adultery committing husband he really is.

4. Zoe knows how to put up a fight! How scared were you for everyone locked in Miss Robichaux's without Fiona (Jessica Lange) to ward off the zombies? When the hot neighbor went to hopefully convince the so obviously not trick or treaters to stop their prank, he was about to be attacked until Nan (Jamie Brewer) ran out and saved him. Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) didn't leave the two in the dark, so she went out to distract the zombies and when they ran after her, hid in a toolshed. But then she decided to take control and went on a murdering spree of the zombies with a chainsaw and did a very fine job! When she got to the last zombie, the chainsaw stopped working, and all of a sudden a power came over her and she was able to finish the zombie off without touching him. If that's not the power of a rising Supreme, I don't know what is!

3. Fiona does have some of a soul...While at the hospital, Fiona stood by Cordelia and we see her struggling with regrets of not being a good mother. While wandering the hospital halls, she comes across a crying lady. Fiona walks into the room and sees a lady who just gave birth to a dead baby girl. Fiona makes her repeat after her that her baby is beautiful and that she will love her until the day she dies. With a touch to the head, Fiona brings the baby back to life and walks out of the room while the lady is overwhelmed with happiness.

2. ...but she is 99.9% evil! Though Fiona has her inner battles with not being a good mother, she's still the baddest witch in town, and people have every reason to fear her! When the Council announces they wish to remove her as the Supreme, she frames Myrtle (Frances Conroy), the lead council member as a traitor in the group. Gathering information about her whereabouts, she makes the other members not trust her. But the big reveal comes from when she accuses Myrtle of being the one to blind Delia! When she takes the glove off, her hand is burned, as if from the sulfuric acid. But it's later revealed that Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) used her voodoo powers to stage the whole thing! Fiona knows she got the wrong witch, but enjoys every last minute of watching her burn at the stake as she remains the Supreme.

1. Misty Day Saves The Day! For Myrtle At LeastRemember Misty (Lily Rabe)? The witch everyone thought was dead and can bring things back to life? Well when she finds Myrtle burned at the stake, she of course brings her back to life! We know Misty is just waiting to make her big entrance back, so will Myrtle and Misty take down Fiona once and for all?

Here are some other new developments:

-Jamie's relationship with Hot Neighbor - somethings a'brewing there!
-Madame LaLaurie's growing attachment to Queenie - she's totally living in 2013 now!
-Madame LaLaurie & Fiona bond over being bad mothers - it's like a mirror image!
-Spalding's obsession led to consequences - like ripping off Madison's arm! Not cool, Spald.
-Fiona manipulates Queenie into thinking she's the next Supreme - but we all just know she wants to use her Voodoo powers again!

So who is the next Supreme? After tonight's episode it looks like it'll be a battle between Misty and Zoe - both of who can exert a lot of power and bring things back to life. Let's not forget Zoe never came back for Misty either, which will definitely make things a bit tense when they unite again.
