Arcade Fire sets dress code for 'Reflektor' Tour concerts

The once indie band Arcade Fire has set a dress code for their upcoming concerts, asking fans to attend wearing formal wear.

According to Toronto Star, special instructions on Ticketmaster ask that fans wear "formal attire or costume." The instructions appear on all of their stops for their Reflektor tour.

The band seemed fairly unapologetic about their request. Singer Win Butler said to a London crowd, "To anyone who felt uncomfortable dressing up -- I'm not sorry." The band dress up in simple outfits and clean-cut outfits.

Despite the requests, fans don't seem to be paying it much attention. Recent concert pictures from concertgoers show people dressing up however they like, including in bunny suits and bloodied masks.

The Montreal band isn't the first to ask fans to dress up a certain way, reports Slate. For their final show, LCD Soundsystem asked fans to dress up in black and white. Singer Laura Marling asked fans to wear black-tie to one concert. But those concerts were all special events and not every stop on a tour.

The Star notes that some feel the request is little more than an attempt to retain their hipster cred as their latest album has put them high on the Billboard 200 and they signed with a major label.
