Bravo’s Andy Cohen steps down as executive, stays on for ‘Watch What Happens Live’

Bravo made a big announcement today, confirming that top executive Andy Cohen will no longer work for the network in that role. However, he will continue hosting the popular live late night talk show Watch What Happens Live and will executive produce the Housewives franchise.

The network said it signed a new multi-year deal with Cohen, which will allow him to leave his position as one of the network’s top executives. The new deal includes two more years of WWHL, him staying on as Housewives producer and he will still host Housewives specials and reunions.

"Andy has influenced the course and the shape of Bravo tremendously over the past 10 years as a production and development executive, and as creator and host of our flagship late night show, becoming the face of the network,” Frances Berwick, President of Bravo and Oxygen Media, said in a statement. “He has created legions of cultural-touchstone programs and left an indelible imprint on the network. We are excited to retain him as a creative force with this new deal, which will also allow him to take Watch What Happens Live and its irreverent, brand-defining humor to the next level.”

Cohen, a 23-year media executive veteran, called his time at Bravo his “most rewarding,” He is also launching Most Talkative, a new production company that shares the name of his autobiography. Part of the deal with Bravo includes a first-look development agreement with his company.

Cohen has been at Bravo since 2004 and was promoted as Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Development in 2010. He began WWHL online in 2007, but then it transitioned to a TV series and expanded to five nights a week in January 2012.
