'Breaking Bad' creator Vince Gilligan to guest on NBC's 'Community'

Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan will take a slight break from being behind the camera to appear in front of it, as he will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Community for its fifth season.

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news that the creator will mark his first acting on the NBC comedy.

The episode begins filming this week. Gilligan plays a smooth-talking gold digger who ends up making things worse in a fight between Annie and Abed, played by Alison Brie and Danny Pudi respectively.

Gilligan joins a season 5 filled to the brim with various guest stars, including former Breaking Bad cast member Jonathan Banks. The actor is set to appear in 11 episodes of the fifth season as a criminology professor. Others include Walter Goggins, Nathan Fillion, Robert Patrick and more.

As previously reported, Gilligan is also busy working on a new CBS crime drama, which already earned a series order.

The crime drama is set in Battle Creek, Mich. and is about two detectives with different personalities who are doing their best to police the streets.

Gilligan is also producing the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call, Saul, but Peter Gould will be the showrunner.
