Emily Wickersham promoted to series regular on NCIS

Though Emily Wickersham has yet to actually appear on NCIS, CBS announced that the actress had been upped to series regular.

Wickersham was originally brought on to play Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop to replace Cote de Pablo's Ziva, after she left the show, Entertainment Weekly reports. Her debut appearance is not until the Nov. 19 episode.

"Emily Wickersham's Ellie Bishop is proving to perfectly compliment the NCIS team," Gary Glasberg, executive producer, said in a statement. "Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Great things are planned for Bishop and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her on-board."

According to E! News, Wickersham's character is described to be "bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward."

In The Sopranos' actress' debut on NCIS, she is brought in to help the NCIS team figure out who bugged a confidential briefing of the Secretary of Navy. Bishop predicted the very event happening in a threat analysis a few years prior.

EW notes the site talked to NCIS' Michael Weatherly about Wickersham and he commented, "We're excited about is having Emily join us on these little adventures we do every week and seeing how she is in the world that we created together."

Weatherly added, "I hope the audience likes her as much as we did right away."
