Eminem releases ‘Rap God’ video (Video)

Eminem harks back to the early eighties for his new video for the song “Rap God” off his The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album.

The 6-plus minute video starts out with Eminem as a Max Headroom character on a TV screen as Eminem sits in a chair in the middle of a room, hooked up to a chair with Matrix-like wires feeding him information of items scanned along the walls. There is no real room for music, which is not a complaint. There’s a constant beat pounding with Eminem spitting rhymes left and right. He raps about his life to become a Rap God, giving a nod to all his influences like N.W.A. and Run D.M.C., and how he’s teaching all the young rappers a lesson. His lyric lyrical acrobat stunts says it all with lightning quick rapping throughout that will make your head spin.

Not a stranger to controversy, Eminem uses the words “faggot” and “gay” very loosely throughout, prompting another round of homophobic accusations. He told Rolling Stone, as he has stated in the past, that those words were intended as insults, like calling someone a punk, rather than a derogatory statement to homosexuals. “I think people know my personal stance on things and the personas that I create in my music. And if someone doesn't understand that by now, I don't think there's anything I can do to change their mind about it.”

The Marshall Mathers LP 2, now in its third week, just reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200.
