Jennifer Hudson gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Jennifer Hudson has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, with her fiancé David Otunga and 4-year-old son on hand to support her.

Her mentor Clive Davis and Diane Warren were also there to give the 32-year-old Oscar and Grammy winner the coveted honor, where she showed off her new pixie cut.

She called it “such an honor” when she posted a photo of herself at the event on Instagram.

In her speech, Hudson addressed her late mother, who was tragically murdered. “I knew I would get emotional, and I’m sure my mom is in heaven like, ‘Jenny, stop crying,’ but now is the time to cry mama. It’s an amazing honor as we all know, and I did not see it coming,” she said, Rap-Up reports.

Hudson added, “It’s one thing to be in this type of position, but it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t make a difference in the world and help someone. Everytime we go out, we make sure we treat everyone like family. So with that being said, I’m so honored that all my family is here with me today.”

She just released a new single “I Can’t Describe” off of her third album and she had three films this year; the Winnie Mandela biopic Winnie, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete and the forthcoming Black Nativity.

Hudson got her start on American Idol and shot to superstarm after the 2006 film Dreamgirls, which she won an Oscar for.
