Justin Lin set to director next ‘Bourne’ film

Justin Lin has signed on to direct the next Bourne installment. Lin is known for directing the past few Fast & Furious films. Universal Pictures also made Lin a producer of the upcoming film.

Deadline.com reported that Lin will be directing the fifth installment of The Bourne Identity franchise. This installment will focus on the continuation of the Aaron Cross storyline.

This next installment will be written by Anthony Peckham, who is known for working on Sherlock Holmes.

Jeremy Renner was Aaron Cross in the Bourne Legacy and is set to return as Cross in the upcoming film.

Matt Damon helmed the first three Bourne films, and he said that he would only come back if director Paul Greengrass returned to the project, Entertainment Weekly added.

Universal Pictures might be hoping that fans of Lin will turn out for the next installments of Bourne. Lin has been behind the past three Fast & Furious films, which have grossed over $1 billion dollars at the box office.

There is no word yet on when the film will go into production or when the film is set to be released in theaters.
