'Switched at Birth' Stephanie Nogueras says there's nothing that can 'limit my ability to succeed'

Actress Stephanie Nogueras recently revealed that she doesn't let any obstacle get in the way of doing what she wants to do – acting – even though she doesn't have her hearing.

The Switched at Birth star sat down with People to discuss an audition for the supernatural drama Grimm.

"The audition called for me to scream aloud and act out being aggressively captured," Nogueras, 23, said. "As a deaf person it was a first for me to have to use my voice. I don't know what it sounded like but it landed me the role.”

After winning a role as a mermaid on the NBC show, Nogueras is looking ahead to further her career even more. "I'm entering my second season playing Natalie on Switched at Birth, but that was my first acting job. Now, with this role on Grimm under my belt, I am eager for more work," she said.

Nogueras doesn't believe that being deaf will hold her back from future acting jobs. "I feel the success of Switched at Birth has helped to dispel misconceptions about Deaf actors and our capabilities. The Deaf community is rich in culture and talent." She finished by affirming that “There is nothing in my life that would limit my ability to succeed."

Along with acting, IMDB reports that Nogueras began as a model while she studied at Rochester Institute of Technology.
