'The Killing' revived again, final season picked up by Netflix

AMC's The Killing won't stay dead as it has been brought back once again for a final season.

Back in September, AMC cancelled the show after reviving it for a third season. The show suffered from low ratings, with the finale drawing only 1.5 million viewers after opening the third season with 1.8 million.

Well, now Netflix is jumping in and saving the show from a second death, Deadline reports. The show will get a proper send off with a six-episode final season. Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman will reprise their roles as they are under long-term contracts.

Creator and executive producer Veena Sud is also back and working on putting together a creative team for the final season. Two writers will return as will executive producers Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the final season will be available in all of Netflix's territories. Production is set to begin in Canada in February.

"The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send off," Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland said in a statement. "We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing."
