Trailer Park- 11/8 Edition: ‘Thor: The Dark World’ tries to take over the box office

A mix of comedy, romance, drama and action make up this week’s new films. In a film debuting in theaters all around the country, evil is taking over the planet, but only one man has the ability to save it.

A vindictive supervillian is on a mission to destroy the world in Thor: The Dark World. In order to restore order, Thor must risk everything. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Zachary Levi, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins star in the PG-13 film. The action/adventure film is running for one hour and fifty-one minutes in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters.

Former childhood beauty pageant contestants get a second chance at taking the crown in Ass Backwards. Having placed at the end of the pack in pageants as kids, best friends Kate and Chloe jump at the opportunity to redeem themselves. They venture out from their NYC home for a road trip to strut their stuff at their hometown pageant. The limited released comedy plays for one hour and twenty-three minutes. It’s rated R for language, sex, nudity and drugs.

A writer falls for a young woman at a coffee shop in A Case of You. Looking to grab her attention, he Facebook stalks her to learn about her interests. After pretending to be the man that he thinks she wants him to be, he catches her eye and struggles to keep up the act. Justin Long co-wrote and stars in the limited released romantic comedy alongside Evan Rachel Wood, Sam Rockwell, Peter Dinklage, Busy Philipps, Brendan Fraser, Sienna Miller and Vince Vaughn. The unrated film plays for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

Set in Germany during World War II, The Book Thief tells the story of a young girl who delves into books to escape from the harsh reality around her. Not only is her foster family struggling financially, but they are also risking their lives to hide a young Jewish man from the Nazis. Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nélisse star in the limited released drama. The PG-13 film is based off Markus Zusak’s popular novel. It runs for two hours and seven minutes in limited theaters.

Evan Rachel Wood not only stars in this week’s new release A Case of You, but she also has a role in next week’s romantic action film Charlie Countryman. Another film hitting theaters on Nov. 15 is the comedy Best Man Holiday.
