Boise State hires Bryan Harsin

Boise State has hired Bryan Harsin as their new head football coach. He replaces Chris Petersen who left Boise State to become the head coach at Washington.
Harsin grew up in Boise and was a backup quarterback for them in the late 19990s. In 2001 he work for them as an assistant coach. He became the offensive coordinator in 2006. Harsin left Boise in 2010 to be the offensive coordinator at Texas. From 2006 to 2010 Harsin led the Broncos to a 61-5 record, won two BCS bowls, won at least 12 games a season, and went undefeated in 2006 and 2009, according to the Associated Press. Boise and Harsin are excited to being together again.
''We're coming home,'' Harsin said. ''One of the hardest decisions we ever made was leaving Boise. We did that so I could become a better coach, so I could one day have the opportunity to return as head coach - that day has arrived.''
Harsin added, "I appreciate the history and tradition of the Boise State program. I embrace that success but won't rest on it. We will build this program every day with a sense of urgency. I can't wait to get to work. Go Broncos!"
This season Harsin was the head coach at Arkansas State. He led Arkansas State to a 7-5 record and a berth in the GoDaddy.com Bowl, according to Sports Network. Harsin’s contract with Arkansas State, which was for five years, had a $1.75 million buyout clause if he left during the first year of his contract. He’s the third straight Arkansas coach to leave after one year, after Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzahn.
Harsin will be taking over a team that went 8-4 this season and missed the conference title game.
