Gal Gadot finally speaks out about playing Wonder Woman in 'Batman vs. Superman'

Actress Gal Gadot has not given an interview since she was cast as Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.’ Batman Vs. Superman earlier this month. The Israeli native finally broke her silence this week, speaking with an entertainment show there, discussing how she is preparing and how she found out she got the role.

The Fast & Furious actress spoke with Good Evening with Gai Pines, a top entertainment news show in Israel, notes MTV News. The fan blog Batman News found the interview and a reader translated it from Hebrew to English for the site.

Gadot, whose casting was officially announced on Dec. 4, said that her agent told her the news while she was on a flight to Los Angeles for another project. She had just landed in New York, waiting for a connecting flight, and could not believe the news at first.

During the interview, Gadot touched on body image, since some have criticized her for being too skinny for the role. “I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world,” Gadot responded. “Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine.”

She added, “By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book’…it’d be problematic.”

Finally, Gadot spoke about the physical training she’s doing for the role. “It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now,” she said. “A very serious training regimen – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jiu jitsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass.”

Meanwhile, Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman on television, told Metro that she approves of the choice.

Batman vs. Superman stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill in the title roles and hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
