Jeffrey Ian Pollack, 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' producer, dies at age 54

Jeffrey Ian Pollack, a producer who worked on Will Smith’s Fresh Prince of Bel Air, was found dead on Monday in California. He was 54-years-old. He also directed the 1997 movie Booty Call with Jamie Foxx.

Pollack’s body was found in Hermosa Beach, Calif. by a woman jogging. He was found wearing jogging clothes and with an iPod nano, Easy Reader News reported. “It’s still unknown how he died, we’re not sure if it was a heart attack. But there were no signs of foul play,” Hermosa Beach Police Department Captain Tommy Thompson told the site. He noted that the iPod was still playing Eagles music and that when police arrived, Pollack was already deceased.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pollack’s other directing credits include 1994’s Above the Rim with Tupac Shakur and 1999’s Lost & Found with David Spade.

He also co-produced and co-created The Fresh Prince of Bel Air with Benny Medina. That show ran from 1990 to 1996 and helped make Smith as star.

Medina and Pollack also co-founded Medina/Pollack Entertainment, later Handprint Entertainment, reports TheWrap. However, the firm shut down in 2008 when Jennifer Lopez and other top clients left.

The cause of death will be determined following an autopsy, the LA County coroner’s office told TheWrap.
