Jerry Bruckheimer close to signing at Paramount, Warner Bros. not in the running

Legendary Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer may take his film productions to Paramount after over spending over two decades at Disney. According to multiple reports, he is close to signing with Paramount and Warner Bros. is no longer in the running.

Bruckheimer, who oversaw the enormously successful Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for Disney, split from the studio in September. Their relationship became fractured after Johnny Depp’s The Lone Ranger flopped at the box office. Disney has also shifted focus to Marvel and Lucasfilm.

Last night, TheWrap reported that Bruckheimer is close to returning to Paramount, the studio where he produced his early hits like Top Gun, Flashdance and Beverly Hills Cop. An insider told the site that the deal could be done as soon as next week. Paramount and a rep for Bruckheimer would not comment.

Variety also reported that a deal with Paramount is close.

As one of the most successful producers in the business, despite The Lone Ranger blemish, it’s easy to see why every studio in Hollywood would try to get a first-look deal with him. That includes Warner Bros., where Bruckheimer’s TV production is based. However, Deadline’s sources say that Warner Bros. is already out of the Bruckheimer race.

Bruckheimer’s TV credits include CSI and The Amazing Race. Disney is still committed to a fifth Pirates film, which has been delayed.
