Joe Jonas talks band, reveals smoking weed with Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus

Joe Jonas opened up in an "As told to" interview about life as part of the Jonas Brothers and trying weed with Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.

Joe talked to Vulture about growing up and being a part of a band with his brothers. He noted that being in the spotlight wasn't especially new to him as he was the son of a pastor, which often put him front and center.

Joe said that they came together as a band more by accident as they just wanted to write songs with Nick, who was into singing and their father told them to try out for David Massey. The elder brother mentioned how in their early days as a band, they had to actually prove they could actually play at their early gigs. "It was always a struggle because every single night we were walking into hate. Sometimes people flipped us off, threw water bottles at us."

He adds that things "completely changed when Disney entered the picture." Their venues quickly grew from smaller places to huge venues in a short span of time. There were definite expectations to be good kids. "We were working with Disney in 2007 when the Vanessa Hudgens nude-photo scandal happened. We heard that she had to be in the Disney offices for a while day because they were trying to figure out how to keep her on lockdown."

According to New York Daily News, as the conversation focused on Disney, Jonas mentioned he tried marijuana with two other popular former Disney kids.

"The first time I smoked weed was with Demi and Miley," the 24-year-old singer said. "I must have been 17 or 18. They kept saying, 'Try it! Try it!' so I gave it a shot, and it was alright. I don't even smoke weed that often anymore."
