Louis C.K. signs production deal with FX to develop new series

Comedian Louis C.K. has signed a new production deal with FX, the home of his acclaimed series Louie. C.K.’s overall deal with the network will have him developing new programs for FX.

The deal is with C.K. and producing partner Blair Breard’s Pig Newton, which co-produces Louie.

“Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf said in a statement today, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Landgraf added that he is “thrilled” to continue working with C.K. and Breard.

“So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed,” Landgraf continued. “I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”

According to the statement, posted at TheWrap, the deal is not related to Louie. That show will be starting its fourth season in May after a long break that allowed C.K. to finish writing the season before it aired.

C.K. has complete creative control on Louie, which won C.K. an Emmy for Best Writing in a Comedy in 2012. This year, Melissa Leo won an Emmy for her guest appearance on the show’s third season. C.K. was also nominated for a Golden Globe this year.

The new deal covers projects for both FX and its comedy offshoot, FXX. He will be able to write or direct any pilot he develops.
