Prince Harry's South Pole trek to continue, no longer race

Due to harsh conditions, the Antarctic charity race Walking with the Wounded South Pole Challenge has been adjusted by organizers and is losing the race aspect, but the trek will continue.

According to The Associated Press, Expedition director Ed Parker felt those participating were undergoing "a higher degree of stress" than expected, so all involved will continue the trek together, instead of racing. He also noted the groups had suffered some minor injuries.

Prince Harry is there with one of the three teams, which each consists of wounded veterans, as they are currently on a 200 mile trek, which began last week. Actors Dominic West and Alexander Skarsgard are also on the trek.

Parker recorded a message that said the teams had "a pretty trick couple of days. The weather remains good but the terrain is very difficult, far harder than we had anticipated." They will instead drive for a portion of the remaining route and walk for the last 70 miles.

As previously reported, the trek was delayed in late November due to severe weather conditions across the Antarctic Plateau. So they instead left on the last day of November for the South Pole trek.

At the time, the Prince joked that his brother, Prince William, was jealous of the trip. "My brother, I think he's just quite jealous I managed to get away from a screaming child."
