Showtime's 'Homeland,' 'Masters of Sex' end seasons on ratings high note

Showtime should be happy with the numbers following the season finales of their hit shows Homeland and Masters of Sex.

The two shows managed to bring in audiences of 2.4 million and 1.2 million, respectively, for the first showings, reports Deadline. The numbers were great for Homeland as it hit a new series' high Sunday night's finale.

Season two's finale previously held the top spot for best ratings numbers for the show at 2.3, which boosts to 2.7 when the encore numbers are combined. The Sunday night finale was good for 2.9 million between the two Sunday night showings.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show managed average weekly viewing numbers of 7 million viewers, which make Homeland the cable network's biggest series.

Masters of Sex also did well for its freshmen season, as it averaged 4.8 million viewers each week, which is another record for Showtime, since no other series has done that well in a first season for the network. The show was actually up 21 percent over the premiere episode.

Both Homeland and Masters of Sex have long since been renewed and will be back next fall.
