Texas Rangers draft Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson

Believe it or not Michael Jordan and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson have something in common. They both play two sports. Jordan, who is an NBA legend, played baseball for the Chicago White Sox in addition to playing basketball for the Chicago Bulls. Wilson, who has a baseball background, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the Triple-A portion of baseball’s winter meeting draft on Thursday.
Wilson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 amateur draft out of North Carolina State, where he played football and baseball. He hit .229 with five homeruns and 26 RBIs in two seasons at the Class A level. Wilson left the Rockies in 2011 for football at the University of Wisconsin. However he had to return to the Rockies as part of his $200,000 signing bonus, according to the Associated Press.
In the third round of the 2012 NFL draft, Wilson was drafted by the Seahawks. He led the Seahawks to the playoff in his first season in the NFL. The Seahawks are currently 11-2. Wilson was surprised when he got a call from the Rangers.
''It's a pretty cool thing. It's my third time being drafted in baseball so it's a blessing for sure,'' Wilson said. ''At the same time my focus is on football. Mr. Daniels and I talked about that obviously. He knew that. ... My focus is on football and what we're doing here.''
Wilson added, 'I love baseball. But football is where my first love is. It's a blessing to be able to have the experience of playing professional baseball before and obviously playing in the National Football League doesn't get any better.''
Mark Rodgers, Wilson’s baseball agent, told NFL Insider Ian Rapoport that this deal has very little consequences for Wilson and the Seahawks, and that he "couldn't imagine a scenario" in which Wilson becomes the Bo Jackson of the millennial set, NFL.com reports.
The Rangers had to pay a $12,000 transaction fee to the Rockies, but they feel that it’s worth it.
