Vikings' Frazier, Redskins' Shanahan, Bucs' Schiano and Lions' Schwartz out

The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Leslie Frazier and the Washington Redskins have fired coach Mike Shanahan

According to ESPN, the last place Vikings fired Frazier and the 3-13 Redskins have let Shanahan go.

USA Today notes that Shanahan is also the executive vice president of the team and was relieved of those duties as well.

The move in Washington is not all surprising. Fans watched a disastrous season and a coach and quarterback debacle play out all year long. The move in Minnesota, however, may be a bit surprising.

The Vikings had a disappointing 5-10-1 season, one year removed from finishing 10-6 and making the playoffs in a tough NFC North division. Some analysts believed the 2012 result may have been enough to save Frazier’s job, but the coach’s 21-33-1 record over three seasons could not be ignored.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns fired Rob Chudzinski, making him the year’s first head coach casualty.

Several other coaches including the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Gus Bradley, the Dallas Cowboys’ Jason Garrett, and the Miami Dolphins’ Joe Philbin await their fate on Black Monday.
