YouTube opens live-streaming to masses

As of today, anyone can be a live broadcaster on YouTube. The number one video site on the Internet has announced that any user across the world will be able to live-stream video.

Over the next few weeks, any YouTube channel that is verified and in good standing will be able to live stream video. The Google based server announced this change and innovation on their blog.

Variety added that before this change, only around 1,000 subscribes could have access to live-streaming.

YouTube users will be able to see if they have access to this new feature by checking the "Live Events" tab in their video manager function on the YouTube channel.

Google also announced that now users can launch a Google+ Hangout with a live-stream directly from the YouTube events manager section. Before this was not possible through the social network, Google+.

YouTube product manager, Satyajeet Salgar and software engineer Time James spoke about how this function will change the popular site for users. "This gives you a simple way to reach your fans live and is the ideal way to to invite participants to join your show," said Salgar and James.

The live-stream rollout will be starting within the next few weeks, no word on which accounts will receive the live-streaming capabilities first.
