‘American Idol’ power couple Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo to star in ‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

American Idol alumni Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo are taking on a brand new stage together in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s newest touring production of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The recent newly-weds are to co-star the show beginning in the early weeks of March.

According to Broadwayworld.com, the recent casting announcement was released by the Independent Presenters Network and is scheduled to open on March 4th in Cleveland, Ohio at the Playhouse Square.

DeGarmo, formerly seen in the Broadway revival of Hair, is set to play the role of the Narrator while husband, and former Broadway star as well, Young will play the title role of Joseph. According to Playbill.com, the two singing superstars accordingly met onstage during the rehearsal and performance process of Hair.

Young, bursting with excitement stated, "I am so excited to star as Joseph alongside Diana.” The power-dual are both thrilled to be sharing the stage once more as Diana exclaimed, "It's great to be back! I too am so excited to star alongside Ace in the very role I once looked up to years ago as a child in the choir."

The story of Joseph, for short, comes from the popular Bible tale of Jacob and his 12 sons. Joseph, his 11th son, was always by far his favorite and in a jealous rage, his other sons strategize a plot to kill Joseph. However, fate proves that Joseph was always made for bigger things. With music and lyrics by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Young and DeGarmo will follow in American Idol alumni footsteps as former American Idol runner up Clay Aiken recently reprised the role of Joseph at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.
