'American Horror Story: Coven' recap: Stevie Nicks Visits the Coven

So much went down when Stevie Nicks came to town! And Stevie Nicks just happened to be BFFs with the - now proven to be soulless - coven's Supreme, Fiona (Jessica Lange)! The internal war in the coven that had been brewing all season long became way more intensified in the season's eleventh episode accurately titled "The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks."

Here's a breakdown of the important things that happened:

1. Fiona and Marie Laveau - two powerful witches work together to stop the witch hunters

After Marie (Angela Bassett) admits that she hired Hank to kill Fiona and her Coven, Fiona lets out all her anger on poor Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) calling her worthless. Fiona points out to Marie that witch hunters never work alone, so the two do their research and find a nest of witch hunters in a billion dollar organization, the Delphi Trust. They perform a spell to go after the corporations money, causing them to lose 50% of their value in ten minutes after the FBI storm in. The leader of Delphi Trust, and Cordelia's late husband's father, figures out that the witches incited such action. Things are about to get much worse...

2. Marie's Sacrifice - Papa Legba

How is it that Marie has been alive for over 300 years? Well, we found out in this episode that every year she makes a sacrifice to Papa Legba, a voodoo figure who comes to bargain with those desperate to stay alive. In Marie's case, every year she must deliver him a baby. In the middle of the night, Marie sets off for the nursery where she kidnaps a baby and kills two police officers that try to stop her. We see in a flashback that the deal started with giving Papa Legba her own child while she battled with the idea of her own death. Marie misunderstood the deal with Papa Legba at first, and learned the cruel way that in order to stay alive for all these years she was to sacrifice a healthy baby.

3. Misty Day Meets Her Idol Stevie

In an attempt to bring out whatever witch-y powers Misty Day (Lily Rabe) possessed, Fiona brought her very own BFF Stevie Nicks to the Coven who played a number of piano ballads as Misty twirled freely throughout the living room with Stevie's shawl. Fiona was obviously trying to sell Misty on being the Supreme, since she possesses great powers. However, Misty wasn't all too sold on being the Supreme. If she had it her way, she'd probably just twirl to Stevie on piano all day.

3. Madison Gets Into Misty's Mind

Madison (Emma Roberts) believes she's the next Supreme now that her heart murmur is cured, and I might as well believe she is too. Every action of hers seems like a clone of Fiona - I may start referring to her as Fiona 2.0. She has the ability to make people feel special or different and have them rethink what they're doing - and then of course she'll totally betray you and bury you alive, even if you're the one that brought her back to life in the first place - ahem, Misty Day.

Madison and Misty's scenes were my favorite in this episode. Following in the back of a funeral procession, the ladies were having a discussion about the Coven and who the Supreme could be, Misty still not convinced she wanted the throne. Madison decides to show Misty her growing powers by opening the casket of the man being buried, and bringing him back to life. Misty is mesmerized. Madison says she just wants to be Misty's friend, and that she should bury the shawl Stevie gave to her. Madison goes on to deliver an inspiring speech about how Misty shouldn't follow in anyone's shadow and that she should only be herself. Madison convinces Misty to throw the shawl in the coffin, but then knocks her head with a brick forcing Misty to fall unconscious into the coffin. She steals Stevie's shawl from Misty and then commands the men to bury her.

The best/darkest part is when Madison twirls around the graveyard with Stevie's shawl - did I mention how fabulous her outfit was, too? Madison is purely evil and hungry to be the next Supreme. Again, Fiona 2.0. It'll be one hell of a battle between those two witches.

4. Nan goes into Overdrive Killing Neighbor

Meanwhile, Nan (Jamie Brewer) believes that she is the next Supreme, and she has every reason to think so! After she learns of Luke's death, she and Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) pay his mom (Patti LuPone) visit. Obviously, no secret can get past the clairvoyant Nan, so when she learns Luke's mom suffocated him with a pillow, she forces her to drink a bottle of bleach, killing her. When Zoe tries to stop her, she telekinetically flings Zoe into a wall and pins her there.

5. Fiona's master plan to kill the witches - Clairvoyant Down

Desperate to stay alive forever, Fiona seeks Papa Legba as she's about to OD on cocaine. Sure enough, Papa Legba pays the Supreme a visit, and wants her soul. Fiona is willing to do anything for it as long as she knows she won't get any older than she is now, even if it mean's crippling her daughter. As Fiona tells him to seal the deal, Papa Legba calls the deal off, stating that she has no soul.

He leaves her there to drown in misery, until the Axeman (Danny Huston) appears to take her out of it. They devise the plan that Fiona will kill all the witches in the Coven to preserve her own powers and keep her from dying.

So when Nan hears the crying baby that Marie stole, she announces that "she's the next Supreme" at the very wrong time. Fiona and Marie devilishly team up to drown her in the bathtub for their own selfish reasons - Papa Legba needing the blood of an innocent from Marie, and Fiona trying to protect her own self from death. Both witches, afraid of death.

But we saw Nan's ghost after she died and as she said "anywhere is better than here" a chill ran down my spine - what has the Coven become? The point was to preserve the witches but instead Fiona is a selfish, rotten leader. I would have loved to see Nan be the next Supreme with her good heart, because that's really what the Coven needs. The only hope for goodness is now Zoe or Cordelia. Perhaps they'll team up and slowly take down everyone? But then again, American Horror Story never has a happy ending.
