'Batman vs Superman' film bumped back to 2016

Superman-Batman film has been bumped back almost year to May 6, 2016 as production isn't going to start on the film until later this year.

Superman-Batman, which stars Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, is still currently in pre-production. The now-vacated July 17, 2015 slot has been filled with the Peter Pan origin film Pan directed by Joe Wright, reports Variety.

The move will directly pit Warner Bros. against Disney on that date, as the latter studio previously had earmarked the date for a currently untitled Marvel film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Warner Bros. domestic distribution president Dan Fellman said, "We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tentpole releases."

The Zach Snyder-directed Superman-Batman is still casting roles for the film, with Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa in talks for a role.
The screenplay for the movie, which was initially written by David Goyer, is being rewritten by Chris Terrior.
