Beats Music experiences traffic jam as music lovers flock to new streaming service

Beats Music’s early success has been so meteoric that it has caused a traffic jam on the site, halting registration and causing issues with connectivity. The service, which was launched by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s company on Tuesday, has addressed the concerns and said there will be a service update.

There was so much demand to start using the service right away that users were having issues getting the app to work and some new users couldn’t register, notes USA Today.

“We were able to still register people so we don't turn them away at the door,” Beats Music CEO Ian Rogers told USA Today. “We just don't put them into the main service so they don't have a bad experience. And then we can email them after and say 'All right, come on in.’”

Rogers hopes that users will understand that hiccups like these are common for new online services. While announcing the service update, the company said that anyone who registers an account this week will get an extra seven days added to their trial.

Beats also thanked users on Twitter for being patient as the system slowly gets back to normal.

NDTV notes that Beats has over 20 million songs in its library at launch. The mobile app is already available at the iTunes store for Apple devices and at the Google Play store for Android. The Windows app will launch on Friday.

The service costs $9.99 a month.
