Bill Nye set to visit Creation Museum for debate

Creation Museum founder Ken Ham announced on Thursday that he will be debating with Bill Nye on Feb. 4 at the Kentucky-based museum.

The debate between the two will focus on biblical creation and evolution, reports The Associated Press.

The museum founder has been trying to get into a public debate with The Science Guy after Nye commented that he feels it's wrong to teach kids about creationism. Nye feels it could negatively affect scientific advances and noted that the Earth is a lot older than creationists say, noting "if that conflicts with your beliefs, I strongly feel you should question your beliefs."

Nye has always been willing to debate Ham, but with one caveat: Ham must pay his ticket and expenses to Kentucky.

In a release, Ham said, "Having the opportunity to hold a cordial but spirited debate with such a well-known personality who is admired by so many young people will help bring the creation-evolution issue to the attention of many more people, including youngsters."

Nye has been pretty outspoken in his views and in December tried to reach out to President Barack Obama in a YouTube video over the NASA's Planetary Science Division restructuring, according to The Huffington Post.

Funding for research grants will likely disappear, though the overall budget drop from $1.5 billion in 2012 to $1.2 billion in 2013 will likely be about the same. In the video, Nye said he understands that budgets will be cut, but begs the president to reconsider this one as "planetary science deserves attention, because it's special."
