Canada’s eOne inks a deal with El Rey Network

The Canadian Company Entertainment One has signed a deal with the Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network.

EOne will handle new scripted comedies and dramas. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vice Chair of El Rey Scott Sassa announced this deal along with John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television on Monday.

The distribution deal also features a project called Matador. It discusses the hero Antonio “Matador” Bravo, an athlete who became a CIA operative. EOne will also handle the DVD and electronic distribution rights for the television show, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. It will have its premiere on March 11.

Robert Rodriguez is a film director who was previously responsible for El Mariachi Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Planet Terror, and Machete Kills. Rodriguez is the Founder and the Chairman of the El Rey Network. He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. In December 2013, the new, El Rey Network had its debut. El Rey bills itself as having a “renegade” feel, according to Variety.
