The Chicago Cubs are in the midst of a 105-year World Series drought, and they have failed to make the playoffs since getting swept in the 2008 National League Division Series by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Although a World Series title has not been a part of their history for a long time, they received a new addition that the Cubs hope to receive a spark from.
Clark the Bear, the Cubs’ new mascot, was publicly revealed on Monday night at a local hospital, according to the LA Times.
Clark the Cub was referred to as a “young, friendly cub who can’t wait to interact with our other young Cubs fans” in the team’s statement, and this was indicated when the mascot joined Cubs players to visit children in the hospital.
Fans will be able to interact with Clark in person and online, according to MLB. Clark will greet fans as they enter Wrigley Field and have his own clubhouse. He will also have Facebook and Twitter pages for fans to follow.
The Cubs’ introduction of Clark leaves three major league baseball teams remaining without a mascot. These teams are the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
