Former 'Doctor Who' companion Karen Gillan appearing at Wizard World Comic Cons

Former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan will be appearing at three upcoming Wizard World Comic Cons in 2014.

It has just been announced that Gillan will be making appearances at the Philadelphia (June 19-22), Chicago (Aug. 21-24) and Austin (Oct. 2-4) stops for the Wizard World Comic Con.

Her former Doctor Who co-star, Matt Smith, will be at the New Orleans stop on Feb. 8-9, where he will be available to sign autographs and pose for pictures, according to Wizard World's website.

Wizard World Comic Cons are great pop culture fests where fans can meet many of their heroes from various shows and movies, but with obvious leanings toward fantasy and sci-fi. Many stars like Stan Lee and Norman Reedus will be at some of the stops.

In moving on from Doctor Who, the Scottish actress will be starring in the upcoming horror film Oculus, which just released a trailer online, according to Entertainment Weekly. The movie, which hits theaters April 11, also stars Rory Cochrane, Katee Sackhoff and Brenton Thwaites.

Gillan will also be appearing in the new marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be released in August
