Hugh Jackman officially joins Warner Bros. 'Pan'

It's finally official. Hugh Jackman has climbed aboard the Peter Pan origin film Pan at Warner Bros.

He will play Blackbeard, who is expected to be the primary villain for the film, reports Variety. Skyfall star Javier Bardem was Warner Bros. first choice, but he decided to pass on the project.

Joe Wright is on board to direct the film based off the script written by Jason Fuchs. Greg Berlanti will be producing the movie and Sarah Schechter is in charge of Pan for Warner Bros.

Jackman was most recently in the highly acclaimed Prisoners alongside Jake Gylenhaal. He is most well-known for playing Wolverine in the many X-Men films.

It was reported on Thursday that Tron Legacy actor Garrett Hedlund was offered the role of Captain Hook. There hasn't been any confirmation that he has accepted the role as of yet.

Hedlund most recently appeared in the Coen brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. There is no word yet on who will play Peter Pan.

Pan is currently scheduled to hit theaters June 16, 2015 where Batman vs. Superman originally was planned.
