Lars Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac: Part 1' screens unexpectedly at Sundance

Journalists at Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah were asked to make room in their schedules for an exclusive, secret screening. As many speculated, the film was revealed to be Lars Von Trier's highly anticipated new film, Nymphomaniac: Part 1.

The film, concerning the graphic sexual journeys of a self-identified nymphomaniac, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg screened Tuesday night to a packed theater of 280 people.

Variety reports that Magnolia, the film's distributor, was fiercely secretive about what film would be shown. However, rumors began quickly on the identity of the secret screening, with Nymphomaniac being a prominent pick.

According to USA Today, the large audience was "stunned and enraptured" throughout the film, which premieres in theaters across North America on March 21st.

The film, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, and Jamie Bell, will be followed by a sequel sometime in the future.
